November 2015: Awards for members of LOEWE-CGT

Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Stellos of the DZHK partner site Rhein/Main has been honored with the „Young Investigator Award“ of the American Heart Association’s Council on Functional Genomics and Translational Biology for his translational research about the role of RNA editing in gene expression in atherosclerotic heart disease, which was presented at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando, 8th of November 2015. Prof. Stellos is a cardiologist at the Center of Internal Medicine, Department of Cardiology, and research group leader at the Center of Molecular Medicine, Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration, Goethe University Frankfurt.

Dr. Christoph Zehendner from the DZHK partner site Rhein/Main was awarded with the „ATVB Early Career Investigator Award“ of the American Heart Association during AHA Scientific Sessions in Orlando on 10th of November 2015. Dr. Zehendner received the distinguished award for his work on the role of noncoding RNAs in human pericyte biology and his previous scientific accomplishments. Dr. Zehendner is a clinical fellow at the Center of Internal Medicine, Department of Cardiology and researcher at the Center of Molecular Medicine, Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration, Goethe University Frankfurt.
